Helping Hands "Thanksgiving Table Display"...

Last week we were given a work challenge to create and submit an original "Hand Turkey" for a our company's Harvestfest event. Of course, me being me, I couldn't just make a plain "hand turkey" drawing on paper to turn in for my entry.

So, what I came up with instead was this fall themed table top display. I traced over both my left and right hands on water color paper, to make the hand turkeys and give it some weight. Then sandwiched the hand cutouts between two pieces of brown felt, that I then ran through my embosser. Added a few fall inspirations with flowers and embellishment picks on floral foam, attached it to a glass block and added some lights. I wasn't expecting to win, but I really wanted to give it my best shot. To my surprise I actually won!

After they announced the winners, I decided to auction of my piece to help a coworker who's young friend was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer. All proceeds from the auction went to the young lady and her family. If you would like to learn more about her cause or to donate please visit--

Golden Cherry Blossoms...

My best friend asked me to create a new center piece for her to go with her new dining room table.

I went with a golden pearlescent paper to create the blossoms and to coordinate with the golden undertones in her table and the paiting she has in the dining room. I love cherry blossoms and wish they were in bloom all year long. So, paper blossoms are definitely one way around that...

Nautical Re-do...

So I finally finished the redo of my last order from a client. Initially, I had started out making this order to suit my clients request for wall letters of her grandson's name to match his nursery shown below.

I was given only the direction that she wanted a nautical theme, but I guess my first attemp didn't quite hit the mark, so I offered to rework the piece. She wanted to have more navy blues and reds on the letters and she wanted it to have more of the classic nautical look.

Using Stapin Up! designer papers in the "Nautical Expedition" theme, I gave the piece a more nostalgic look, staying true to what she wanted for her grandson's nursery.

I struggled with this latest piece, but I think it came out nicely when it was all said and done. It's interesting how just a bit of reworking and details can change the look of an order.

All you need is PINK?

What girly girl doesn't love PINK? A new customer wanted a special Mother's Day gift for her mom. She gave me just one request " I want to get the word PINK in the 8 inch size letters. If possible, I’d like to get the hottest and brightest pink you have for them."

I was a little reluctant on this one, as it required me to paint the base letters HOT PINK instead of the more neutral white. So off to the craft store I went. I found the most brilliant "Hot Pink" spray paint by Krylon and started on my mission.

She picked it up today and seeing it for the first time she exclaimed "Those are sooo cute!!! Thanks so much!!!"...

Another satisfied customer, I just love making clients happy. In my opinion the world could use a little more PINK!

Green with Envy...

A new customer requested her sisters' name "KAREN" in greens and blacks. She describe that she didn't want anything too girly and wanted it to be more current. I think this hit on all points, what do you think?

I added just a touch of paper flowers and used metallic embossed designer papers to finish off the look.

What's in a Name?...

Been so busy lately with Mother's Day, Birthdays and baby shower planning... I haven't had a chance to post some of the newest orders I compleated this month. Here are just a few.
My latest customer wanted a nautical theme of her 1st grandson's name Marcus for his nursery that is also decorated in the same theme. This was my first time creating something, compleated masculine. Not using any flowers, was kind of a new experience for me.
I think these turned out great for my first attempt, but I am going to be reworking some of the letters to include more reds and navy blues. I'll post new pics when it's compleated.

Thinking of Spring...

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this color combination! It definitely makes me think of Spring and warm weather. I wanted to try out a new style of rose for this order.
So instead of doing all English style roses, I opted on adding the dog roses too. I felt they would add lots of dimension and texture in addition to the English roses.

There are also dogwood blossoms, peonies and ranunculus in various shades to compete the arrangement.

I ultimately am happy I decided to take this order even though I had a tight schedule as I'm quite happy with the way it turned out.

Paper Mache Wall Letters

These handmade decorative letters can be a great addition to anyone's home. Put it on a book shelf, hang it on a wall, or put it on the mantel. This would make a wonderful gift for any occasion, mother’s day, birthdays or even a house warming gift—the possibilities are endless.

I’ve combined my paper flowers, scrapbooking and decoupage techniques to make custom works of art.

You can purchase individual letters or combine letters to spell out a name, welcome, eat, family, home, live, love, laugh, dream, believe or anything you would like. All uppercase letters are available A-Z. Prices varies, please email if you have any questions.

I submitted this oversized "B" for a Birthday Display Contest at my work. Sadly I did not win, but I did take home second place.
